The Open House is a wonderful opportunity to tour the school with young alumni and current Day School parent guides, hear mini-classroom presentations from faculty, and view the entire facility.
All parents of first-time applicants to the Day School are required to schedule an interview with the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid during the fall. Parent interviews can only be scheduled once applications have been received. These small group meetings are offered during morning hours, from October through January, and can be reserved by calling the Admissions Assistant at 773.572.1237. We ask that both parents attend this informal meeting, which does not include your child, as it provides an ideal time to learn about the Day School’s programs, ask questions and view classes in session. In addition to the parent interview, nursery and junior kindergarten applicants' parents participate in a parent orientation during their child’s scheduled play party.
All nursery and junior kindergarten applicants attend a “play party” at the Day School. Play parties include a small group of children at the same age level. The gatherings enable our staff to observe how each child interacts in the group setting, and can provide insights about a young child’s readiness for school and potential for success at the Day School. Applicants will be notified of a play party date at least two weeks prior to the scheduled time.
