TO LEARN, TO VALUE, TO DO!

ללמוד, להעריך, לעשות

Beginning in nursery, students are introduced to spoken Hebrew and become familiar with the sounds of the language. Nursery children and junior kindergarteners share games, songs, art and simple conversation during Ivrit--Hebrew time. In senior kindergarten, Ivrit classes take place each day, and include activities that encourage the natural acquisition of spoken language and understanding, without a need for translation into English.

Beginning in nursery, students are introduced to spoken Hebrew and become familiar with the sounds of the language...As they move through the grades, they are invited to LISTEN, SPEAK, READ and WRITE the language.

The children learn the language using all of their senses. There are monthly celebrations of Rosh Hodesh--the beginning of the new month on the Jewish calendar. The students also become familiar with the map of Israel by imagining how children in Israel celebrate the holidays throughout the year.

As students move through the grades, they are invited to LISTEN, SPEAK, READ and WRITE. Listening comprehension and speaking fluency are encouraged as classes are conducted in Hebrew and the flow of the class evolves within an ever-growing vocabulary base. Hebrew teachers are continuously modeling patterns of spoken language, so students gradually become familiar with correct sentence structure – as they did when they were spontaneously learning English as toddlers. New grammatical structures are introduced in a sequential manner so children develop familiarity with nouns and pronouns, past, present and future tense verbs, the use of the infinitive, adjectives and adverbs.
