Technology/Computers
Technology is introduced in Early Childhood as one of the "centers" in our classrooms. The children are exposed to developmentally appropriate computer programs that will:
- Foster hand-eye coordination
- Reinforce number, letter, shape, and color recognition
- Teach sharing and turn-taking while allowing the children to verbally engage with each other and build social skills
- Teach sorting, calculating, identifying, and differentiating while navigating different programs to introduce beginning reading and math skills
- Enhance visual motor skills while working on directionality
- Foster interaction with others by encouraging discussion of what is seen and where to click the mouse
- Build self-confidence by making children feel successful
Some of the programs we use include: Tux Paint, Millie's Math House, www.onemorestory.com
