Library/Story Time/Reading Buddies

Books are an important part of our morning activities. Each classroom has a well-equipped library and teachers have complete access to our school's Media Center/Library where books and other media can be checked out for classroom use. Our students also have scheduled library time, and are greeted by the Day School librarian who facilitates both library time and browsing time every week.

Each Early Childhood classroom participates in the Reading Buddies program. During scheduled Reading Buddies time, Early Childhood students listen to stories read by their Lower School Reading Buddy, and often share a bonding activity, such as playing or watching a movie together. The older students occasionally perform plays and sing songs for their buddies, as well. Early Childhood students increase their listening skills while their Lower School buddies improve their own reading and other skills.
