Community Service

Community Service/Tzedakah is introduced already for the youngest members of the Day School community.

The Early Childhood department begins a Food Drive that spans the Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas holiday season to help area food banks stock up for the winter. Currently, the food we collect is donated to Lakeview Pantry, a neighborhood food bank for the needy, and kosher donations are sent to The Ark, a local organization that supports Jews in need in the Chicago area.

During the second half of the year, the children participate in a Toiletry Drive and/or a Warm Winter Mitten and Hat Drive.

On Fridays we collect tzedakah in each classroom. The Early Childhood department has elected to support Chicago's Children's Memorial Hospital. At the end of each school year, the money collected weekly in tzedakah is earmarked for purchasing DVDs, CDs, arts and crafts materials, and books for children receiving in- or out-patient services at the hospital.
